Roxane Marie Brooks, 47, of Sitansisk First Nation, Passes Away

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roxane Marie Brooks at Sitansisk (St. Mary’s First Nation) on March 21, 2026, at her home, at the age of 47.

Family and Legacy

Roxane is survived by her partner, Marty Ladds; the father of her children, William Kirk Barlow; her 14 children, Angel (Mike), Alisa (Derek), Natalie (Hunter), Cassidy (Justin), Summer (Nate), Sydney (Alex), Storm, Kole, Jorja, Alexis, Braxton, Gage, Blaise, and Paislee; her sister, Shelley (Ross); brothers, Joe (Alicia) and Mitchell (Kelly); and her father, Frankie Brooks (Lorraine). She is also remembered by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Geraldine Henry; stepfather, John Joseph Henry; grandparents, John Allen Paul, Geraldine Theresa Paul, Mark Albert Brooks, and Mary Ernestine Brooks; uncles, Dean Paul and Mark Brooks Jr. (Barnzie); aunt, Jeanie Brooks; and cousins, Dakota Leigh Brooks, Patrick Brooks (Trackie), Walter Brooks, and Racquel Lindsay Brooks.

A Dedicated Mother and Cherished Friend

Roxane was a stay-at-home mother, a role she considered her most meaningful achievement. Those who knew her remember her kindness, her open heart, and her willingness to speak her mind. She was a constant source of support for her family and friends, described as a stunning mother, daughter, sister, and best friend who loved deeply and without reservation.

Community and Funeral Arrangements

Roxane will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A traditional Wolastoqey farewell, expressed as ‘Apc-ockomiyal’ – meaning “I’ll see you again” – reflects the community’s sentiment.

Roxane will be resting at the Maqiyahtimok Centre, 247 Maliseet Drive, on March 24th, all afternoon and evening beginning at 2pm. The funeral service will be held at the Maqiyahtimok Centre on Wednesday, March 25th, at 2pm.
