IFK Gothenburg Unveils 15 Unique Match Shirts Celebrating City Districts

IFK Gothenburg has announced a unique initiative ahead of the 2026 season: 15 distinct match shirts, each dedicated to a different urban area within Gothenburg. The shirts aim to represent the club’s deep connection to the city and its diverse communities.

A Tribute to Gothenburg’s Identity

Each jersey will feature the name of a specific Gothenburg district – including areas like Vasa, Linné, and Kålltorp – highlighting the places that have shaped the club’s identity. The initiative is a tribute to the individuals and communities that have contributed to IFK Gothenburg’s history, embodying the spirit of “The whole city’s law.”

Collaboration with Serneke

The project was made possible through a partnership with Ola Serneke, CEO and owner of Ola Serneke AB, who generously provided space on the shirts typically reserved for the main partner’s logo. This allowed for the inclusion of the district names, strengthening the link between the club and the city. The ladies’ team will proudly wear the name Göteborg on their home shirt in the premiere.

“When the opportunity was presented to me to lift the city of Gothenburg together with Blåvitt, I never hesitated,” said Ola Serneke. “We at Serneke have created space and built for the citizens of Gothenburg since the start of the company in the early 2000s. Just like IFK Göteborg, Serneke has in many ways built and been involved in society – all over the city. It is with great pride that we have left room for the areas that will adorn the match shirts.”

Shirt Availability and Release

The match shirt featuring “Gothenburg” will be available for purchase throughout the season, both in-store and online at www.blavittshopen.se. The unique area-specific shirts will be released in limited editions coinciding with selected match rounds.

Prior to each match, the corresponding district’s shirt will be available for sale on-site within that area. The first edition, showcasing “Göteborg,” was launched on March 28th at Götaplatsen, next to the Poseidon statue.
