Kildare Couple Crowned Winners of Home of the Year 2026

Lorcan and Adrian have been named the winners of RTÉ’s Home of the Year 2026, triumphing over nine other finalists in the competition’s grand final. The announcement was made on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, following the live finale broadcast from Palmerstown, County Kildare.

The winning property, located in County Kildare, was originally constructed in 2005 on family land. Designed with the surrounding landscape as a primary consideration, the home was built around a long-standing weeping willow tree that held personal significance to Adrian’s late father. The couple, both professionals in floristry and horticulture, integrated their expertise into the property’s design, creating a seamless connection between the house and its extensive gardens.

The garden features thoughtfully curated planting and unique functional spaces, including a dedicated tearoom, which the couple describes as an extension of their living area. Speaking about their vision, Lorcan explained that the home was intentionally oriented to maximise natural light, providing both morning and afternoon patio spaces to encourage daily use of the entire property.

The 2026 series introduced a new format element: each of the three judges—Hugh Wallace, Amanda Bone, and Siobhán Lam—was allocated one “golden key” to use at their discretion during the competition. This allowed them to save a runner-up from an earlier episode and advance that contestant directly to the final, resulting in ten finalists rather than the usual seven.

Lorcan and Adrian’s home stood out for its practical yet stylish design, which successfully blended functionality with aesthetic appeal. Their victory marks a significant achievement in the popular RTÉ lifestyle series, which celebrates exceptional residential design and personal expression across Ireland.
