Nine Men Investigated for Driving Deregistered Vehicles in Singapore
Singapore police are investigating nine men, aged between 19 and 32, for allegedly driving or riding deregistered vehicles between January 30 and February 12, 2026. The investigations involve a range of traffic offenses, and all vehicles involved have been seized.
Incident in Sembawang
On February 3, a 25-year-old man was apprehended after allegedly fleeing from Traffic Police (TP) officers in Sembawang Drive. According to police statements, the man refused to stop for checks and subsequently drove against the flow of traffic, damaging a police vehicle, running a red light, and making illegal U-turns. He has been arrested for dangerous driving and driving while disqualified and is also assisting with investigations related to using a deregistered vehicle and driving without insurance.
Tampines Street 21 Incident
On February 6, two men, aged 19 and 20, were found riding separate laid-up motorcycles along Tampines Street 21, with a 17-year-old teenager as a pillion rider. A laid-up vehicle is defined as one that cannot be legally used on the road. TP officers subsequently discovered the trio boarding a suspected deregistered car. Preliminary investigations revealed the 20-year-old man drove both the deregistered car and one of the motorcycles, while the 19-year-old man and the teenager rode the other motorcycle. The two men were arrested for driving without a valid license, and the 17-year-old is being investigated for driving a motor vehicle while under the age of 18.
Additional Case in Hougang
In a separate incident on January 30, a 20-year-old man was caught driving a suspected deregistered car in Hougang Street 52 without a valid driving license.
Ongoing Investigations
The police continue to investigate all nine individuals for various traffic offenses. All vehicles involved in these incidents have been seized as part of the ongoing investigations.
