Royal London Asset Management Expands Australian Footprint with SS&C Partnership
Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has announced a significant expansion of its relationship with SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSNC), appointing the global financial services provider to administer its newly launched range of Australian active funds.
This strategic move marks a key milestone for RLAM, the investment arm of the U.K.’s largest mutual life, pensions, and investment company, as it seeks to deepen its presence in the Australian market. The new suite of funds, which launched with approximately AUD $1 billion in assets under management (AUM), includes four distinct investment vehicles:
- Royal London Global Equity Diversified Fund
- Royal London Global Equity Enhanced Fund
- Royal London Global Equity Select Fund
- Royal London Short Duration Global High Yield Bond Fund
Strengthening Operational Infrastructure
Under the terms of the agreement, SS&C will deliver a comprehensive suite of fund administration services. This includes fund accounting, unit pricing, transfer agency, valuation, and financial reporting. These funds are structured as feeder funds, granting Australian investors indirect exposure to RLAM’s existing Dublin-domiciled UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) funds. Equity Trustees will serve as the Responsible Entity for the new Australian offerings.
Ed Venner, Chief Client Officer at Royal London Asset Management, noted that the three-year history of the partnership in the U.K. Served as the foundation for this decision. “The firm’s global scale and their growing presence in the Australian market made SS&C a natural choice to service our new Australian funds,” Venner said.
Strategic Growth in APAC
For SS&C, the deal represents a continuation of its recent growth trajectory within the Australian superannuation and wealth sectors. To bolster its regional capabilities, the firm recently appointed Chrys Wickremeratne as Regional Head of Fund Accounting. Wickremeratne, who previously served as the Head of Fund Services for Australia and New Zealand at HSBC, brings 25 years of industry experience to the role.
Nick Wright, Global Head of SS&C Global Investor & Distribution Solutions, emphasized the importance of the region to the firm’s long-term strategy. “SS&C has invested significant time and resources in expanding our local team and offerings to best serve fund managers in the region,” Wright stated.
Key Takeaways for Investors
