An immigrant housed by the British Government on the Bibby Stockholm barge has been declared dead, according to the PA agency this Tuesday. The circumstances of the death have not been clarified at the moment although various sources suggest that it was a suicide.
The Home Office confirmed that they have been informed of the “incident” on the so-called “prison ship”, which docks at the Portland dock, in the south of England, since the summer. “It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” a spokesperson said.
The first refugee embarkation operation was aborted in August, when traces of legionella were detected in the ship’s pipes.
Interior resumed the controversial initiative in October, which should have included the deceased man.
“It didn’t take long for what many activists knew was going to happen. Devastating and desperate,” the human rights organization Inquest denounced on the X network (formerly Twitter).
