Supported by the Fundación Unicaja, the program emphasizes a mix of Baroque, Bel Canto, and Romantic repertoire, anchored by the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga and the Coro Titular del Teatro Cervantes-Intermezzo.

Season Highlights and Operatic Productions

The season opens with a special concert featuring Carlos Álvarez and Sabina Puértolas. The operatic schedule balances established classics with specialized productions:

Season Highlights and Operatic Productions
  • The production features an all-female cast, nodding to the work’s historical debut at a girls’ boarding school, under the musical direction of Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas.
  • Known as "La traviata of the mirrors," the staging features Sabina Puértolas as Violetta Valéry, with musical direction by Álvaro Albiach and iconic scenography by Josef Svoboda.
  • This marks the first time the work has been presented at the Teatro Cervantes in over three decades. Berna Perles headlines the production in the challenging role of the Bel Canto soprano, supported by Paolo Fanale and Olga Syniakova, with Julio García-Vico conducting.

Education and the Ópera Estudio de Málaga

The season continues its commitment to pedagogical development through the second edition of the Ópera Estudio de Málaga (ÓEM). This initiative, which previously earned the Premio Patrimonio Lírico Español, offers training for twelve international singers.

Under the guidance of Carlos Álvarez and master Carlos Aragón, the program will present Georges Bizet’s Don Procopio on December 4 and 6. The production includes stage direction by Mario Gas and acting instruction from Vicky Peña, with vocal coaching provided by Aquiles Machado and Isabel Rey.

Lyric Galas and Recitals

The schedule includes high-profile recitals designed to highlight vocal diversity:
