According to Dutch publication Galaxy Club, Samsung is currently testing a Sony-manufactured camera sensor for the main lenses on the base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus models. This marks a departure from Samsung’s usual reliance on its proprietary ISOCELL camera technology for its core flagship tier. Industry sources indicate that early benchmark tests target a 50-megapixel resolution for this alternative sensor, though hardware selection remains in the testing phase.

Concurrently, South Korean tipster Lanzuk reported via Naver that Samsung is exploring silicon-carbon battery technology for the Galaxy S27 lineup. However, current application testing has not yet yielded an increase in overall cell capacity, signaling that the hardware specifications are still subject to change as development continues.

The reported evaluation of Sony sensors represents a notable divergence for Samsung’s mobile division.
