According to Genesis, the cinematic project marks a continuation of the brand’s cultural programming celebrating the centennial of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, linking Monroe’s legacy of breaking boundaries with the automaker’s global luxury identity.

Film Production and Creative Team

“Flesh Impact” features a prominent Hollywood cast and crew assembled through a collaboration with Authentic Brands Group, the owner and manager of the Marilyn Monroe estate. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs the feature, which explores Monroe’s life and impact from modern perspectives. The cast includes Dakota Johnson portraying Monroe during her early years of peak fame, and Academy Award-winning actress Ellen Burstyn depicting Monroe in later life. Peter Sarsgaard and Sepideh Moafi also hold roles in the production.

According to Gyllenhaal, the collaboration began when Genesis approached the team with the proposal to commemorate the Monroe centennial. “This film is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Marilyn Monroe we remember and love, designed to shed fresh light on her narrative,” Gyllenhaal stated.

Brand Strategy and Exhibition Context

The film support expands on Genesis’s ongoing “Manifesting Marilyn” exhibition, which opened in June at Genesis House in New York. The exhibition is structured to present Monroe’s personal and professional history to audiences. Amy Marentic, chief marketing officer of Genesis Motor North America, stated that the brand believes art creates meaningful human connections, framing the film sponsorship as a commitment to highlighting cultural icons with enduring influence.

The title “Flesh Impact” derives from descriptions of Monroe’s physical presence and screen aura, intended to convey a direct connection between the actor and the audience. The project represents a bridge between corporate cultural sponsorship and biographical filmmaking.

Festival Premiere and Timeline

The world premiere of “Flesh Impact” is set for the Venice International Film Festival in September 2026. The festival screening will serve as the initial public release for the Gyllenhaal-directed biopic before wider distribution plans are finalized.
