LIVE, returning to the city for the first time in 25 years, according to an announcement by National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial and Los Angeles Urban League President and CEO Cynthia Mitchell-Heard.

Marc H. Morial and Cynthia Mitchell-Heard made the official announcement at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown Hotel, establishing that the nation’s largest and most influential civil rights gathering is headed back to the West Coast. According to Robyn Williams writing for the National Urban League, the four-day event will bring thousands of forward-thinking community, business, and political leaders to the region for workshops, plenary sessions, and networking events.
“The Urban League Movement’s goals in the areas of employment and entrepreneurship, education, housing and health care are threatened by a rising tide of racial polarization and extremism in our governing institutions,” Marc H. Morial stated during the announcement, as reported by the National Urban League. He added that uniting the country requires removing systemic roadblocks to opportunity and embracing a multicultural democracy.
Addressing Economic and Civil Rights Challenges
According to the National Urban League, the 2027 conference will confront unprecedented attacks on racial justice, discrimination, and barriers to opportunity across the social and economic landscape. Leaders from industry, government, and community sectors will convene to chart a path forward and discuss regional economic impacts.
“Bringing the National Urban League Conference to Los Angeles is more than a milestone—it is a moment of alignment between the urgent needs of our communities and the national movement to advance equity and opportunity,” said Cynthia Mitchell-Heard, who serves as President and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League and is the first woman in over a century to lead the organization, according to the National Urban League.
