According to Marca, Chivas opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Los Angeles FC before losing 5-4 in a penalty shootout. Needing a victory to secure one of the four available advancement spots, the Mexican side failed to convert multiple scoring opportunities during the match.

FC Dallas capitalized on a defensive lapse in the second half. According to Marca, forward Logan Farrington scored on a counterattack, sealing the victory and condemning Guadalajara to elimination from the cross-border competition.

Match Disruption Due to Discriminatory Chants

Late in the fixture, referee intervention became necessary due to crowd behavior in the stands. According to Marca, the match was temporarily halted as the stadium security and officials addressed anti-guy chants echoing from frustrated supporters watching their team face elimination. Upcoming Schedule for Guadalajara

With qualification mathematically impossible, Guadalajara will play out the remainder of their group schedule before returning to domestic competition. According to Marca, Chivas will conclude their Leagues Cup participation against Seattle Sounders on Wednesday, August 12, at Lumen Field. Afterward, the club resumes Liga MX play with an away fixture against Santos Laguna in Torreón on Sunday, August 16.
