Twelve families fled into the Verona night on Sunday, August 9, after a sudden apartment fire choked a residential building in the Ca’ di David district with dense smoke.

Emergency Response on via Ferrucci

The alarm sounded shortly before 9 p.m. Emergency dispatchers received urgent calls reporting thick plumes pouring from a structure on via Ferrucci.

The Vigili del Fuoco arrived on the scene within minutes. Fire crews pushed directly into the multi-story building to guarantee a complete evacuation, zeroing in on the heavy hazard filling the stairwells.

Tracing the Short Circuit

Investigators from the fire service quickly located the origin of the blaze. The fire ignited near a baseboard, where technicians identified an electrical short circuit as the root cause.

While the electrical fire generated rapid, heavy smoke, crews tackled the ignition point head-on.

Clearance and Return Home

Local authorities reported zero injuries and no property damage outside the immediate ignition point. Following air quality tests and safety inspections by the fire department, all twelve evacuated families received official clearance to re-enter their homes later that same evening.
