Nomura International Wealth Management launched a Singapore-domiciled physical gold trading and custody service on August 12, 2026, targeting high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients seeking secure, locally vaulted precious metals infrastructure, according to an official company announcement reported by Hubbis and Nomura Holdings.

Singapore-Domiciled Gold Trading and Custody

The new offering enables eligible clients to buy, sell, and safeguard physical precious metals entirely within Singapore. According to Nomura International Wealth Management, the platform provides direct access to large gold bars and kilobars stored locally. Akshay Prasad, Head of Investment Products & Advisory Solutions at Nomura International Wealth Management, stated via company disclosures covered by Hubbis that gold has re-emerged as a cornerstone of wealth management.

Client specifications under the program include traditional large gold bars weighing approximately 400 troy ounces, which represent the global benchmark for international trade settlement. Additionally, the service provides kilobars, which serve as the preferred specification across various Asian markets. Nomura Holdings noted that all trading and custody operations remain domiciled within Singapore to reflect the firm’s strategic focus on the region.

Strategic Expansion in Asian Wealth Hubs

The physical gold platform represents the initial phase of a broader strategic build-out designed to position Nomura as a primary wealth partner in Asia. Akshay Prasad noted in corporate statements published by Nomura Holdings that the firm aims to deliver world-class propositions that capitalize on Singapore’s status as a trusted global financial hub. The rollout leverages local vaulting infrastructure to meet rising regional demand for tangible asset allocation among affluent investors.
