Google unveiled the Pixel 11 lineup, featuring an AI-powered 120x zoom capability on the Pro models and a slimmer camera bar design across the hardware family, according to hands-on reporting by PCMag senior writer Kimberly Gedeon ahead of the August 12, 2026 launch event.
Pixel 11 Hardware Redesign and Dimensions
The entry-level Pixel 11 sports a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display alongside a redesigned camera bar on the rear chassis. According to Google specifications cited by PCMag, the company reduced the thickness of the camera hump by over 40 percent compared to the previous generation. Gedeon reported that the slimmer profile allows the device to slide more easily into tight pockets alongside everyday carry items like hand sanitizer and gum.
To address table wobble caused by protruding lenses, Google introduced a companion case that levels the back of the phone. Under the hood, the base model packs a larger 48-megapixel main sensor. Google states this component increases light sensitivity by 58 percent for improved low-light performance. The telephoto sensor supports 5x optical zoom and up to 30x Super Zoom.
Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL 120x Zoom Capabilities
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL push imaging boundaries further by introducing a 120x AI-powered zoom feature. While standard phone cameras typically max out around 30x magnification, Google’s telephoto upgrades place the Pro devices in a different tier for wildlife and distant subject photography. The Pro model features a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro XL scales up to 6.8 inches.
In addition to camera upgrades, the Pro lineup introduces the face-down HiLight caller ID system. Gedeon noted that this feature provides an unusual method for users to identify incoming callers even when the device rests face down on a flat surface.
Battery Life, Pricing, and Availability
Google priced the base Pixel 11 starting at $899, equipping the device with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This configuration doubles the storage capacity year-over-year while keeping the price stable, a feat Google attributes to in-house chip manufacturing controls amidst broader component industry pressures.
Battery performance is rated for up to 30 hours on a single charge. The device supports 25W charging via Qi 2.2, marking a 25 percent speed increase over the prior iteration. Consumers can purchase the standard model in Frost, Hibiscus, Obsidian, and Pistachio colorways.
