Jecheon City is extending its 5% cashback incentive program for the local currency Moa through October, backed by an additional national funding amount, according to an announcement from the municipal government reported by Chungcheong Times.
Cashback Structure and Purchasing Limits
Shoppers purchasing the Jecheon Moa currency continue to receive a 12% upfront discount. Transactions completed via QR code or Moa card earn an additional 5% cashback on the purchase amount. For purchases made at designated “Good Price” shops certified by Jecheon City, an extra 5% is added, bringing the combined financial advantage to a maximum 22% when factoring in both the initial discount and the payment rewards.
The monthly purchase limit remains capped at the standard limit per individual. Paper-form Jecheon currency is excluded from the cashback initiative and retains only the standard 12% upfront discount.
Local Economic Impact and Tourism Integration
The extension follows a special Chuseok holiday promotion launched on September 7. Municipal officials state that continuing the program aims to ease consumer financial burdens and stimulate domestic spending to support small businesses and commercial districts.
The October extension coincides with the Jecheon Oriental Medicine Natural Products Industry Expo and the operation of the Jecheon City Pass. The city expects these concurrent events to drive tourist spending directly into local storefronts.
“We thank our citizens for their high interest and participation in the September Jecheon Moa special event,” a Jecheon City official said, as reported by Chungcheong Times. “We hope the cashback benefits continuing into October will help ease consumers’ spending burdens and breathe vitality into local commercial districts.”
Municipal authorities noted that the 5% cashback accumulation benefit remains subject to early termination if the allocated budget is exhausted.
