The Royal Spanish Mathematical Society and the BBVA Foundation have today recognized the work of six young mathematics researchers for their advances in fields such as dynamic systems, geophysics and fluid dynamics, or Artificial Intelligence, among others.
The six awardees under 30 years of age, have received the Vicent Caselles 2023 Mathematical Research Awards, which aim to support and stimulate young professionals dedicated to mathematical research.
The jury of these awards has unanimously decided to award the prizes to Robert Cardona Aguilar, postdoctoral researcher Margarita Salas at ICMAT – Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and Claudia García López, graduate in Mathematics from the University of Granada and dedicated to the study of equations and models that come from geophysics and fluid dynamics.
Also awarded were Roberto Giménez Conejero, a graduate in Mathematics from the University of Valencia and a doctorate from the University of Valencia, who studies the theory of complex singularities, and Paula Gordaliza Pastor, a graduate in Mathematics from the University of Valladolid (UVa) and researcher of Artificial intelligence en el Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM).
Likewise, Óscar Rivero Salgado, graduated in Mathematics and Physical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), a researcher in number theory, and María Soria Carro, graduated in Mathematics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and assistant professor in Rutgers University (New Jersey, United States) where he studies fine regularity theory for completely nonlinear elliptic differential equations.
