Seven people were injured on Tuesday after a Palestinian driving a vehicle in Tel Aviv intentionally ran over a several pedestrians to later stab others, reported the Israel Police, amid an escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“A suspect who was driving a vehicle hit pedestrians who were in the shopping center on Pinchas Rosen Street (Tel Aviv), got out of the vehicle and stabbed others with a sharp object,” a police statement said.
“The terrorist was neutralized by a civilian,” a police spokesman said without giving further details about the attacker.
So far the identity of the assailant has not been officially revealed, but the Israeli authorities often use the word “terrorist” when it comes to a Palestinian committing a crime for nationalist reasons.
Hebrew media have identified him as Hasin Jalila, 23, a resident of the southern West Bank town of Samu, who entered Israel on a permit to receive medical treatment.
