the Sanctioning Russia Act focuses on broadening the scope of U.S. sanctions to target a wider range of Russian government officials, as well as individuals and entities linked to or controlled by the Russian government. These sanctions will be triggered and maintained if Russia continues to obstruct genuine peace negotiations with Ukraine or initiates further military actions that undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Beyond strengthening existing measures, the bill introduces a ample economic penalty: a 500% tariff on all goods imported into the United States from Russia. This measure extends to nations that continue to support the Russian war machine by purchasing Russian oil, uranium, or refined petroleum products.
