Ryu Hye-young Confesses Feelings for Lee Tae-sung
Actress Ryu Hye-young made a public confession of her feelings for actor Lee Tae-sung during a recent appearance on the Channel A reality show “Shillang Sueop 2” (Husband Classroom 2). The 33-year-old actress directly approached the 41-year-old actor to express her interest.
The segment, which aired on June 6, showed Lee Tae-sung meeting Ryu Hye-young alongside the couple Kim Yo-han and Oh Yeon-hee. After arriving at a riverside spot, Ryu Hye-young greeted Lee Tae-sung warmly. She praised his character, stating, “In all my work, I haven’t seen a person as gentle as oppa (older brother). I was so grateful when he drove me from my home to the filming location in Mungyeong.” Ryu Hye-young then described her ideal type as someone “caring, diligent, and responsible,” making eye contact with Lee Tae-sung as she spoke.
When Lee Tae-sung briefly stepped away, Kim Yo-han asked Ryu Hye-young, “What’s Lee Tae-sung like as a man?” She simply replied with a smile, “He’s good.” In a subsequent interview with the production team, Ryu Hye-young was candid about her motives. “I saw that oppa was on ‘Shillang Sueop 2’ and thought if I just waited, I would miss my chance, so I arranged this meeting myself,” she said. “To be honest, I have feelings for him,” she admitted, actively expressing her affection.
Lee Explains Reasons for Refusal
The revelation left Lee Tae-sung visibly flustered. He gently declined her advances, citing his personal circumstances. “I’m sorry, but I have a family situation, so I can’t accept your feelings,” he said, alluding to his status as a single father. Lee Tae-sung then opened up about his past, explaining that he had a relationship in his 30s after his divorce, which ended due to opposition from his partner’s parents.
“Even if it were my own daughter, I imagine her father would try to talk her out of it,” he shared, his voice thick with emotion as he spoke of his parents, who raised his son. Ryu Hye-young responded with empathy, “Oppa, you carry a lot of weight in your heart. I only see the charm of ‘Lee Tae-sung’ the person. I may not be able to hold an umbrella for you on a rainy day, but I can stand beside you in the rain.”

Lee Tae-sung married a woman seven years his senior in July 2012. The couple divorced by mutual agreement in 2015 due to differences in personality. They have one son together, and Lee Tae-sung has been raising him as a single parent since the divorce.
