Twenty Beebo Dolls Exist Outside the Arrowverse, All Crew Gifts From Legends of Tomorrow

Twenty Beebo dolls exist in the real world, all distributed as crew gifts during the production of Legends of Tomorrow, dc.com reported in the latest installment of Alex Jaffe’s monthly “Ask the Question” column. The column, published on the official DC website, answers reader-submitted questions about DC Universe continuity, from the history of the Vertigo imprint to the membership rolls of the Birds of Prey.

Superman and Lex Luthor’s Boyhood Friendship Returns in Action Comics

The currently ongoing “Lex Luthor: Year One” storyline, beginning in October’s Action Comics #1103, is expected to depict the early relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor, dc.com reported. While the two have not yet crossed paths in their childhoods in the current iteration, the classic Silver Age story established that Luthor lost his hair in a lab accident while attempting to create a cure for Superboy’s kryptonite weakness, and he has blamed his former friend for the incident ever since.

Vertigo Comics Were Never Officially an Alternate Universe

The Vertigo line of comics from the 1990s and 2000s was never officially considered part of an alternate universe during publication, despite a common misconception, according to dc.com. The separation was a policy of practice in which events in one branch of the company would not be regularly referenced in another to keep young readers from straying into mature-rated titles. Characters from both branches never fully fell out of contact: Swamp Thing occasionally appeared in Batman titles in the 1990s, the events of The Sandman affected Geoff Johns’ JSA, and the late-period Vertigo series Madame Xanadu relied heavily on established DC continuity.

June Moone Was a Freelance Artist Before She Became an Archaeologist

June Moone’s profession as a graphic designer in Rob Williams’ 2016 Suicide Squad series is actually closer to her original comics origin than her role as an archaeologist in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film, dc.com reported. In her original 1966 story in Strange Adventures #187, June was depicted as a freelance artist who attended a party at a haunted castle and was granted powers by a demonic entity. Williams updated “freelance artist” to “graphic designer” for the 2016 series.

Male Heroes Have Joined the Birds of Prey Roster Over the Years

The Birds of Prey have included several male members and consistent allies throughout their publication history, dc.com reported. The first unquestionable costumed male member was Hank Hall, who joined as Hawk in the 2010 relaunch alongside Dawn Granger as Dove until the 2011 Flashpoint reset. Former NSA agent Ben Reyes, alias Condor, served in the New 52 series for just under two years, and Gus Yale joined in 2016’s Batgirl and the Birds of Prey before being killed by the villain Burnrate. Earlier allies included Savant and Creote in Gail Simone’s run, and John Constantine has been a constant presence in Kelly Thompson’s run.

The Key Returns in June 2026’s Justice League: Dream Girls

After evading the Titans and Justice League at the end of Titans Rebirth Volume 2, the villain known as the Key next appears in Deathstroke’s Secret Society of Super-Villains during the Dark Crisis period, dc.com reported. His next major scheme is slated for June 2026’s Justice League: Dream Girls event, where he pursues Dreamer.

The Court of Owls Worships Barbatos Due to Ancient Tribal Hierarchy

Scott Snyder established the connection between the Court of Owls and the bat deity Barbatos in Dark Nights: Metal, linking the cult to the potent symbology of the bat, dc.com reported. In-universe, the explanation traces back to Grant Morrison’s work in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, which established that the first four great clans of early humanity were governed by the Bird Tribe, Bear Tribe, Wolf Tribe and, above them all, the Bat Tribe. This hierarchy suggests the Court’s fealty to a bat devil dates back to the dawn of humanity.

Ownership and Origins of Beebo Toys

Can I buy a real Beebo toy?
No retail version was ever produced. Only twenty Beebos were made as crew gifts for people who worked on Legends of Tomorrow, so any appearing on the secondary market would be one of those original gifts.

When does Lex Luthor: Year One start?
The storyline begins in October’s Action Comics #1103.

Who killed Gus Yale?
Gus Yale, who joined the Birds of Prey in 2016 as a successor to Oracle, was killed by a villain named Burnrate approximately a year and a half into his run.
