Community Cinema in Ahlen to Showcase French Comedy “It’s the Little Things”
The Bürgerstiftung Ahlen (Ahlen Community Foundation) is hosting a community cinema event at CinemAhlen on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The event is open to donors, sponsors, and anyone interested in the foundation’s work.
A Heartwarming Comedy with Social Depth
The featured film is the 2023 French comedy “Es sind die kleinen Dinge” (“It’s the Little Things”), directed by Mélanie Auffret. The film tells the story of a dedicated teacher and mayor in the small Breton village of Kerguen, and her unexpected student – a 65-year-classic man who returns to school. The movie explores themes of illiteracy and rural exodus with humor and sensitivity.
Starring Julia Piaton and Michel Blanc
The film stars Julia Piaton, known for her role in “Monsieur Claude and his Daughters,” as the committed teacher and mayor. Opposite her is Michel Blanc, who received a Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in “Grosse Fatigue,” portraying the 65-year-old Émile.

About the Filmmaker
Mélanie Auffret, the director of “It’s the Little Things,” was born in Plescop, Brittany, France. She initially studied commerce before pursuing a career in filmmaking, attending the Cours Florent and the Laboratoire de l’acteur in Paris.
