Airborne Empire Leaves Early Access, Launches 1.0 Today on Steam The Wandering Band and publisher Stray Fawn have officially launched Airborne Empire 1.0 on Steam, marking the conclusion of the game’s Early Access phase. After over a year of community-driven development, the sequel to the BAFTA-nominated Airborne Kingdom is now available in its complete form. The 1.0 release introduces several major additions that expand both the game’s world and gameplay depth. Players can now explore the Kingsfell Biome, a frozen tundra region in the far north featuring snow-capped peaks and ancient cities buried beneath ice. This new environment presents unique challenges as players navigate icy winds to reclaim territories from pirate forces. A centerpiece of the update is the final boss encounter with the Pirate Queen, leader of the sky-pirate factions that have threatened player cities throughout the game. To prepare for this confrontation, players can research advanced technologies such as the Jet Engine, which provides bursts of speed essential for evading enemy interceptors during aerial combat. As a lead-in to the full launch, a Survival Mode was released on March 20, 2026. This mode features a 20-stage campaign where players must rapidly expand and defend their city against escalating waves of enemies, offering a heightened challenge for experienced citybuilders. Airborne Empire blends tranquil city-building with open-world RPG elements, evolving from its predecessor by adding exploration, narrative progression, and strategic defense mechanics. The game tasks players with constructing and managing flying cities while helping populations below reclaim their skies from pirate rule. The developers emphasized that the jump to version 1.0 represents more than a label change—it delivers the conclusion to the game’s story and incorporates long-requested features based on community feedback. With today’s launch, Airborne Empire is now available in its final, complete form on Steam.
