Alcoy’s Teatro Circo Celebrated in Novel Musical Production

Alcoy, Spain, is set to honor its rich cultural heritage with the premiere of “Teatro Circo, una historia de película,” a new musical dedicated to the beloved Teatro Circo (1903-1985). The production, based on Ricardo Canalejas’s book of the same name, will take the stage at the Teatre Calderón on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

A History Brought to Life

The Teatro Circo, owned by the El Trabajo Society, held a significant place in Alcoy’s cultural landscape for decades. It served as the city’s most popular venue for cinema and live performances, hosting a diverse range of events, including film screenings, theatrical productions, zarzuela, concerts, and charity festivals. The Production

The musical aims to capture the essence of the Teatro Circo’s legacy, drawing upon documentation and images that resonate with the people of Alcoy. TicketAlcoi notes the production is a tribute to the venue’s history.
