Apple Business: A Comprehensive Guide to Apple’s New All-in-One Platform

Apple has announced Apple Business, a new all-in-one platform designed to help companies manage devices, improve productivity, and reach customers more effectively. The platform consolidates several of Apple’s existing business tools into a unified system, enabling organizations to manage employee devices, deploy apps, and maintain secure operations whereas expanding their ability to connect with customers across Apple services.

What is Apple Business?

Apple Business aims to simplify the management of Apple products within organizations of all sizes. It combines built-in mobile device management (MDM), business email and calendar services with custom domain support, and new options for customer engagement. The platform replaces Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials, and Apple Business Connect, streamlining operations for businesses currently using those separate tools. Data from these existing services will automatically migrate to the new Apple Business platform.

Key Features of Apple Business

Mobile Device Management (MDM)

A core feature of Apple Business is its built-in MDM, allowing businesses to control and configure devices, security settings, and apps from a central interface. MacRumors highlights the use of “Blueprints,” which enable companies to quickly set up employee devices with preconfigured settings, supporting zero-touch deployment. This means new devices are ready to use immediately upon unboxing, particularly when purchased through Apple or authorized resellers.

Managed Apple Accounts

The platform introduces Managed Apple Accounts with what Apple describes as “cryptographic separation” between personal and work data. This allows employees to use the same device for both purposes without commingling information, enhancing data security and privacy. Account provisioning can be automated through integrations with identity providers such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Entra ID.

Communication and Collaboration Tools

Apple Business as well provides integrated email, calendar, and directory services tied to custom domains. Businesses can either bring an existing domain or purchase one through the platform, establishing a professional identity and simplifying communication across teams.

Customer Engagement and Local Advertising

To help businesses expand their reach, Apple Business enhances visibility across Apple Maps, Mail, Wallet, and Siri. Starting this summer in the United States and Canada, businesses will be able to place local ads in Apple Maps during key search and discovery moments. These ads will be clearly marked and designed with Apple’s privacy-first approach, ensuring user data remains secure according to Apple.

Brand and Location Management

The platform centralizes brand and location management tools, allowing companies to control how their brand appears across Apple services. Businesses can manage logos, names, and key details, as well as create rich place cards with photos, business hours, and interactive features such as offers and reservation links. Insights tools will help companies track how customers interact with their listings.

Apple Business Essentials and the Free Tier

Previously a paid subscription, the built-in mobile device management features of Apple Business Essentials are now completely free for organizations in over 200 countries as part of the new Apple Business platform. This represents a significant shift in Apple’s approach to the enterprise market.

Availability and Pricing

Apple Business will be available starting April 14 in more than 200 countries and regions. While the core platform is free, additional services like enhanced iCloud storage and AppleCare+ for Business will be available as paid add-ons. The companion app and certain features will require the latest Apple operating systems.
