Liverpool have recovered from a concerning run of nine losses in twelve games – their worst in 71 years – and currently sit fifth in the Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea. Though, Slot acknowledges the team’s position is below expectations and cautions against complacency despite a six-match unbeaten streak, emphasizing the need for considerable performance improvements.
“We are in the position we deserve after the first half of the season,” stated the Liverpool head coach. He will be without the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai and the long-term absentee, Alexander Isak, for the match against Wolves on Saturday. “I think we should be higher, let that be clear – I was expecting and hoping for us to be higher in the table – but even in the last six games the difference between us and the other team is constantly too small.”
