Artemis II Crew enters Quarantine – January 26,2026 (UNTRUSTED SOURCE)

The Artemis II astronauts – Reid Wiseman,Victor Glover,Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen – began a 14-day quarantine on January 24,2026,in Houston,Texas. This “health stabilization program” aims to prevent the crew from contracting any illness that could delay their upcoming lunar mission.

the quarantine isn’t a full isolation; contact with friends, family, and colleagues adhering to quarantine regulations is permitted, but public spaces are avoided, and masks/physical distancing are required. The crew might potentially be airlifted to the Kennedy Space Center six days before launch if tests remain positive. There, they will reside in crew quarters at the neil A. Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building.

Launch date is not yet set, pending results from the WDR test and other operational factors. The crew can exit and re-enter quarantine 14 days prior to any potential launch date.

Meanwhile, pre-launch preparations continue at Kennedy Space Center, including inspections of the SLS rocket, Orion spacecraft, and ground systems. Non-essential personnel were removed from LC-39B on January 24th for SLS booster engine maintenance.

Rescue teams from NASA and the Department of Defense are conducting a final simulation for post-landing recovery in the Pacific ocean.

The approximately 10-day Artemis II mission will be the first crewed mission of the Artemis program, testing systems for future lunar and Martian exploration.
