Loco Taco Mexican Restaurant is opening a new storefront at 340 Edgefield Road in North Augusta, replacing the brick-and-mortar location previously occupied by Ironhead Barbeque, according to a banner hanging outside the property.
Ironhead Barbeque Shifts Away From Brick-and-Mortar and Food Truck Operations
The incoming taco restaurant takes over the physical address left vacant when Ironhead Barbeque shut down its restaurant space in June, according to reporting by Bianca Moorman. Following that closure, Ironhead Barbeque announced on August 7 that it would also terminate its food truck operations to concentrate entirely on private catering, weddings, parties, corporate events, and family gatherings. In a public statement regarding the shift, the business noted that the new direction allows the team to deliver dedicated service for catering clients while continuing to serve its established menu items for booked events.
North Augusta Dining Additions Feature Texas-Inspired Breakfast Tacos
The arrival of Loco Taco follows other culinary expansions in North Augusta, including the recent opening of Beanie Bens on Georgia Avenue. Specializing in Texas-inspired breakfast tacos, Beanie Bens operates weekdays from 6 a.m. to noon and weekends from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering menu items priced largely at five dollars.

Timeline and Ownership Details Remain Unannounced
While exterior signage and banners confirm that Loco Taco Mexican Restaurant is slated to open soon at the former Edgefield Road barbecue site, specific operational details remain unfinalized. According to published reports, no official opening date has been announced, and the ownership details for the new restaurant have not yet been publicly disclosed.
