Like many Latvian musicians, the group “Atkala” also presented a new song to the listeners in the middle of February – “Vēstules“, which is “a calm, slow and sentimental piece that captures the mood of Valentine’s Day and the holiday of love”.
The group “Atkala” started its activity last year, it consists of four young musicians: Matīss Mateuss Kalniņš, Matīss Villa, Marius Beks and Ernests Ervīns Dovgāns.
“The song ‘Letters’ is a message of love for the month of February and the holidays that come with it. It reveals the painful themes of lost love, where a response from the other person is persistently expected, but never received,” explains the band’s support team. “At the center of the piece are nostalgic memories – childhood, first love, a feeling of a time when everything seemed simpler. It is a desire to return to childhood summers for a moment and the hope, which is folded like a letter and thrown into the mailbox every day, that these summers have not changed and are exactly as we remember them.”
