He married Anna Minaříková and had three children: Tomáš Baťa Sr., Antonín Baťa Jr., and Anna Baťová. Following AnnaS death, he married Ludmila Hruščáková, with whom he had five more children: Leopold, Bohuslav, Jan Antonín, Jindřich, and Marie. His initial focus was on producing quality, affordable shoes for the local market.

2. Tomáš Baťa Sr. (1876-1932)

Tomáš Baťa sr., born April 3, 1876, in Zlín, and died July 12, 1932, in Otrokovice, is credited with transforming the family workshop into a modern, industrialized shoe factory. Alongside his brother Antonín Jr. and sister Anna, he formally established the Baťa company in 1894. He pioneered mass production techniques, standardized shoe sizes, and introduced innovative marketing strategies. He also focused on employee welfare, building housing, schools, and healthcare facilities for his workers – a remarkably progressive approach for the time. He married Maria Menčíková, and they had one son, Tomáš Baťa Jr. Tomáš Baťa Sr. died in a plane crash en route to Switzerland. His will stipulated that his half-brother, Jan Antonín Baťa, would inherit the company.

3. jan Antonín Baťa (1898-1965)

Jan Antonín Baťa, born March 11, 1898, in Uherské Hradiště, and died August 23, 1965, in Batatuba, Brazil, took over the leadership of the Baťa company after his half-brother’s death. He continued the expansion of the business, focusing on international markets. With the threat of Nazi occupation looming in 1939, he moved the company’s headquarters to Canada and later established a significant presence in Brazil, founding the city of Batatuba. After a lengthy legal dispute, he relinquished his claims to the original Zlín-based company, baťa, a.s., to Tomáš Baťa Jr. in 1931.

4. Tomáš (Thomas) Baťa Jr. (1914-2008)

Tomáš Baťa Jr.,born September 17,1914,in Prague,and died September 1,2008,in Toronto,Canada,played a crucial role in establishing Baťa’s operations in North America. He was raised with a strong emphasis on independence and business acumen by his father. He founded a new branch of the company in canada in 1939. He married Sonja Wettstein and had four children: Thomas G. Bata, Christine, Monica, and Rosemarie. In 1984, he passed the leadership of the Bata Shoe Association (BSO) to his son, Thomas G. Bata.
