Emotional and successful festival in Griñón for the Stuyck family

An emotional and successful tribute was received by the Stuyck saga represented by Julio, son of Don Livinio -as all bullfighting reminds him-. A festival that filled the Griñón bullring, just 3 kilometers from Cubas de la Sagra. The Stuyck family from Belgium settled in this Madrid municipality at the end of the 18th century. They created the first Royal Tapestry Factory that they managed generation after generation until Don Livinio was called to direct the Las Ventas bullring at the request of Jardón. The year after his appointment, in 1947 he created the first San Isidro fair. He was also the promoter of the Venta del Batán.

Due to his dazzling management, he managed to be highly respected and loved by the world of bullfighting. Every year he organized a charity festival in Cubas to which bullfighting figures attended without thinking for a moment, even if it was in the typical square of sticks in the town square. One year, in which Julio Aparicio and Chicuelo fought, announced Orson Welles as a picador who regretted it but went to the festival. Also in the audience was Ernest Hemingway.

Following that tradition, the retired bullfighter Raphael Sandoval -sommelier of the Coque restaurant that he runs together with his brothers and proxy- has wanted to recover the tradition of Don Livinio with this festival with the support of the Griñón City Council and specifically the passion of the councilor Chema Amor.

Antonio Palla’s bullfight allowed the bullfighters to be above it but it was not fully lent to carry out great works. Diego Urdiales endured the looks of a first who gratefully took bottom and left it reflected in several important crutches (ear). Cayetano went easy with a noble steer that did not admit demands (two ears). Daniel Luque was grumpy for the lack of race of the third, although he signed two luxurious trench coats (ear). Francisco José Espada -who reappeared from the goring in Madrid- went out to eat the world in the room, which he received as tafalleras, remaining very still. The mansito got a certain class that he took advantage of in natural fines (two ears). The festival was closed by bullfighter Marcos Linares, recently seriously injured in Seville, resulting in the winner of the Circuit of Andalusia, who signed a bullfighting start before being caught fighting seated on his right hand. Once cracked, the steer stood up to him with good naturals (ear).

It turned out to be a very entertaining festival in which both Cayetano as Francisco J. Espada toasted Julio Stuyck and personalities such as politicians Adolfo Suarez, Noelia Núñez, Juan Antonio Gómez Angulo attended. Retired bullfighters Juan Antonio Alcoba ‘Macareno’, Sánchez Puerto, Curro Vázquez and Rafael Sandoval. The farmers María Jesús Gualda, Zacarías Moreno and Vicente Ruiz, among many fans who attended the celebration.
