BigMama Returns to Italy After Being Stranded in Dubai Amidst Regional Tensions

Italian singer BigMama has safely returned to Italy after being stuck in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following disruptions to air travel caused by escalating regional conflicts. The singer landed at Orio al Serio airport in Bergamo on March 5, 2026, as one of over 1,770 Italians repatriated on seven flights from the UAE, according to reports.

Escalating Conflict and Travel Disruptions

BigMama’s travel was impacted by the fallout from an attack by the United States and Israel against Iran. Tehran responded by launching missiles and drones, some of which targeted the Emirates, leading to significant disruption to air travel. The singer had been traveling from the Maldives when her flight was diverted to Dubai.

A Plea for Help

Even as stranded in Dubai, BigMama shared her experience on social media, expressing fear and appealing for assistance. “We feel the missiles overhead, we are living a nightmare,” she posted, adding, “There are many Italians in this situation, you must try to apply all possible forces.” She described being diverted to a hotel near Dubai and urged authorities to help those stranded return home. Government Assistance for Repatriation

The repatriation effort was supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which worked closely with Dubai and Abu Dhabi airlines to arrange additional flights. La Milano reports that BigMama was among the 1,770 Italians who returned to Italy on March 5th.
