Armed police responded to a stabbing incident in Birmingham’s Alum Rock area on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, leaving a man seriously injured and a woman with less severe injuries. A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Details of the Incident

Emergency services were called to Bridge Road shortly after 12:00 GMT following reports of a stabbing. Firearms officers were among those dispatched to the scene according to the BBC and Yahoo News.

West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that crews arrived to uncover a man with serious injuries and provided advanced life support. A woman was as well treated for less serious injuries.

Police Response and Arrest

West Midlands Police confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody. The police stated the incident is believed to be contained and are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses. Detective Superintendent James Munro said, “We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.”

School Lockdown

A nearby nursery on Bridge Road was reportedly placed in lockdown after witnesses observed the stabbing. The Express reported that witnesses saw a man stabbing another man in the street.

Ongoing Investigation

Police are appealing for anyone with information, including mobile phone or dashcam footage, to come forward.
