Dollar Drop Makes Black Friday Deals Even Better in Colombia
Black Friday has arrived, one of the most anticipated dates for buyers thanks to the strong discounts on technology, clothing, and footwear.This year, the outlook is even more favorable, as the dollar is at $3,773.60, the lowest level in five years for November 28. compared to the TRM of 2024, which stood at $4,406.16, purchases of certain products can be up to 14.3% cheaper.
To better understand this impact on your pocketbook, a price comparison was made for eight technology, clothing, and footwear products – the most searched categories during Black Friday. The calculations were made with the dollar values published in the official stores of Apple,Adidas,and Amazon,allowing a true measurement of how the exchange rate favors purchases this year.

Cheaper Prices
The iPhone 17 Pro has a price on Apple’s official website of US$1,099. with the TRM from a year ago, at $4,406.16, the price would be $4.8 million. However, with the current price of the dollar at $3,773.60, that same cell phone would cost $4.14 million, a difference of $695,183.
Another example is the Nintendo Switch 2, whose price is US$499. A year ago, it would have cost $2.19 million, but with the fall in the TRM, it is now $1.88 million. Other devices, such as computers, have also reduced their prices. An Acer brand unit, on Amazon, can be found for US$200 with the day’s discount. On November 28 last year, it would have sold for $881,232, while today it can be purchased on the website for $754,720.
In other categories such as footwear and clothing, ther are also reductions. The Adidas Ultraboost 1.1 Shoes are priced at US$135. with the TRM from a year ago, they would cost $594,831, but with the current rate, they are $509,436 on today’s Black Friday, a reduction of $85,395.
Other items, such as a Levi’s brand jacket, priced at US$60, are $37,000 cheaper.Similarly,a long Columbia jacket,priced at US$104,would have a discount of $65,786,thanks to the drop in the price of the dollar.
