My New Band Believe Announces Debut Album and Shares New Single ‘Numerology’

Former black midi member Cameron Picton has announced the debut album from his new band, My New Band Believe, set for release on April 10, 2026, via Rough Trade Records. The announcement comes with the release of their new single, “Numerology,” a non-album track that will be available on a bonus 10” vinyl and a limited-edition Deluxe CD. [Rough Trade Records]

From Black Midi to a New Venture

Picton first launched My New Band Believe in February 2025 with the track ‘Lecture 25’. [NME] Following the “indefinite” end of black midi in the summer of 2023, [Pitchfork] Picton embarked on this new project, taking on the role of bandleader and “unreliable but charismatic narrator.”

The Making of ‘My New Band Believe’

The debut album originated from a fever dream Picton experienced while ill in a Chinese hotel room. He salvaged fragments of imagery and text from this experience to form the songs on the album. [Rough Trade Records] The album is described as being almost entirely acoustic, utilizing minimal reverb and electronic effects, yet remaining dynamically maximal.

‘Numerology’ and the Album Tracklist

“Numerology” is a standalone single, not included on the album’s tracklist. The song is characterized by a frenetic acoustic guitar and explores themes of chance and possibility. [NME]
