Brad Keselowski Departs RFK Racing Following 2026 Season

I’m nowhere near ready to be done as a driver, Brad Keselowski said after announcing his upcoming departure from RFK Racing following the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. The team confirmed the exit, closing a chapter that began when Keselowski joined the organization as a co-owner and driver in 2021.

The transition arrives alongside a period of significant valuation shifts across the Cup Series. The settlement of an antitrust lawsuit brought by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports against NASCAR has fundamentally altered how big investment firms perceive team ownership. Charter values have surged from a pre-settlement benchmark of $45 million to current estimates ranging between $50 million and over $100 million. The closing of the lawsuit here in the last 12 months has dramatically affected the perception of the sport, in particular New York City and where a lot of these big investment firms are, Keselowski said.

Sponsorship Shifts and Corporate Fatigue

Keselowski views live sports as the last bastion of advertising outside of buying an ad on Facebook or Google, noting that Fortune 500 companies are exhibiting fatigue with major tech platforms.

This evolving economic landscape has introduced stability to garage operations. While Keselowski noted that individual teams are not necessarily guaranteed profitability, the underlying ownership model now possesses a degree of sustainability absent during the previous eight to 10 years.

RFK Racing Charter Status and Future Operations

RFK Racing faces immediate logistical adjustments regarding its team structure for the 2027 season. The Charter utilized by Ryan Preece in the No. 60 Ford during the 2026 campaign is slated to transfer to LEGACY MOTOR CLUB’s No. 84 entry, following an agreement involving Rick Ware Racing.

Despite dropping to two secured Charters, RFK Racing stated its intention to continue fielding a three-car operation in 2027 and remains active in pursuing a third Charter. The organization also needs to fill the head of competition role previously held by Keselowski and determine the future driver for the No. 6 entry.

Collaborative Ownership Transition

RFK Racing and Keselowski are currently working through the technical steps required to address his equity stake in the organization. Chip Bowers, President of RFK Racing, acknowledged the driver-owner’s foundational contributions to the team’s competitive turnaround.

The impact Brad has made on our organization has been felt by everyone associated with RFK Racing; he’s undoubtedly been a terrific representative of our collective efforts both on and off the track, Bowers said in a team press release.

During Keselowski’s tenure in the co-ownership group alongside Jack Roush’s Roush Enterprises and Fenway Sports Group, the team snapped a victory drought and secured seven Cup Series race wins.

Future Aspirations

I still have a lot I want to accomplish in this sport, and I’m looking forward to what comes next, Keselowski said.
