Brad Pitt Filming “The Riders” on Hydra, Greece
Brad Pitt is currently on the Greek island of Hydra to begin filming his upcoming thriller, “The Riders.” The production is expected to bring several hundred crew members to the picturesque, car-free island, with filming scheduled from late February through mid-March.
A Return to Hollywood for Hydra
Hydra has a storied history with cinema, having hosted the first-ever Hollywood production in Greece, “Boy on a Dolphin” starring Sophia Loren in 1957. About “The Riders”
Directed by Edward Berger (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) and written by David Kajganich, “The Riders” is based on the acclaimed 1994 novel by Tim Winton, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1995. Brad Pitt stars as Fred Scully, a man who moves to Europe to start a new life with his wife and daughter. Filming Preparations
Production crews have transformed the port area of Hydra into a film set, renting two waterfront premises. One has been converted into a traditional café and the other into a high-speed ferry ticket office. Pitt’s Arrival and Local Reaction
