Britney Spears Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Britney Spears was arrested in California on Wednesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred in Ventura County, near Los Angeles.

Details of the Arrest

The CHP received a report shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday of a black BMW 430i being driven erratically at a high speed on U.S. 101 in Newbury Park, California . Officers located the vehicle and pulled it over. Spears, the sole occupant, reportedly exhibited signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests .

She was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs and taken to Ventura County Main Jail . Spears was released from jail around 6 a.m. Local time .

A representative for Spears released a statement calling the incident “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.” The statement continued, “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time” .
