Brooks koepka Returns to PGA Tour, While LIV Golfers Remain Committed to Breakaway League

Brooks Koepka is returning to teh PGA Tour, accepting the financial penalty imposed by the tour and set to compete at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. He stated he is “fully onboard” with the penalty and eager to rejoin the tour, according to a statement released earlier this week.

However, Koepka’s return doesn’t signal a mass exodus from LIV Golf. Fellow LIV golfers Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cameron Smith have all publicly reaffirmed their commitment to the Saudi-backed league. The PGA Tour’s Returning Member Program offered a pathway for these players to rejoin by February 2nd, but all three have chosen to remain with LIV.

“Yeah, I mean, look, I’m contracted through 2026, so I’m excited about this year,” DeChambeau said at LIV Golf’s media day in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Rahm echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’m not planning on going anywhere. Very similar answer to what Bryson gave. I wish Brooks the best. As far as I’m concerned, I’m focused on the league and my team this year, and hopefully we can repeat as champions again.”

Smith also expressed his loyalty to LIV, saying, “I know I’m here to stay. I’m here to support LIV. I’m a captain of a great team and a great group of people. I’m happy where I am. I’m proud of where I am. I think we do many great things, especially in Australia, and I can’t wait for this league to keep growing.”

koepka was among the first wave of PGA Tour players to join LIV Golf in 2022, citing health concerns and uncertainty about his future as a top player at the time. He afterward won the 2023 PGA Championship, leading him to suggest he might have made a different decision had he known his health and game would improve.
