Busan Food Film Festival 2026 to Celebrate 10th Anniversary with 17 Food-Related Films and Culinary Experiences
The 10th anniversary of the Busan Food Film Festival (BFFF) will take place from 26 to 28, 2026, featuring 17 food-related films and culinary experiences, according to Busan City Hall. The event, held at the Busan Cinema Center and the Suyeong Riverfront, will blend cinema with gastronomy, offering audiences a unique fusion of storytelling and flavor.
What’s the Theme of the 2026 Festival?
The festival’s theme, “Unfamiliar Yet Familiar,” explores how food connects cultures and emotions. “We aim to highlight the stories behind familiar dishes and the universal appeal of unfamiliar cuisines through film and taste,” said Jo Yu-jang, director of Busan’s Cultural Affairs Division. The concept reflects a broader trend in global food media, where cultural exchange through cuisine is increasingly celebrated.
What Films Will Be Screened?
The lineup includes 17 food-themed films, with the opening film The Last Cannoli, a tale set in a Sicilian pastry shop. The film, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, focuses on family, tradition, and community. Other selections include documentaries on global food traditions and narratives exploring the intersection of food and identity. “These films are chosen for their ability to evoke both hunger and introspection,” said Park Sang-hyun, the festival’s programmer.
