Researchers believe that studying both cats and dogs – both common household pets – can shed light on the environmental factors that contribute to cancer development. Because pets share living spaces with humans, they are exposed to similar environmental influences. “Our household pets share the same spaces as us, meaning that they are likewise exposed to the same environmental factors that we are,” stated Professor Geoffrey Wood of the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada.
