Shenzhen Prepares Final Stages for APEC CEO Summit 2026

Preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit 2026 have entered their final stage, with organizers scheduling the high-profile business gathering for Nov. 17-18 in Shenzhen, south China’s Guangdong Province, as announced by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The CCPIT stated that event planning is progressing in an orderly manner.

The summit operates under the theme “To Prosper and Win the Future Together,” bringing together political and business representatives from all 21 APEC economies. Wang Wenshuai, spokesperson for the CCPIT, announced that business representatives from every APEC member have registered, alongside well-known firms from non-APEC countries including Britain, France, Germany, and Switzerland.

United States Leads Business Registrations for Shenzhen Event

The United States has emerged as the economy with the largest number of registered companies for the Shenzhen summit, according to the CCPIT. A large contingent of U.S. Fortune 500 companies and prominent firms—including Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Google, ExxonMobil, and Microsoft—have submitted attendance applications.

Wang noted during a Beijing press conference that this broad U.S. participation underscores the importance the American business community places on Asia-Pacific cooperation. It also highlights the deeply interconnected industrial and supply chains binding China and the United States. Participating firms span diverse sectors, covering semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biopharmaceuticals, energy, finance, transportation, logistics, chemicals, aerospace, manufacturing, and consumer retail.

Agenda Focuses on Trade Integration, Technology, and Regional Growth

Discussions in Shenzhen will center on several core pillars of regional economic cooperation. The agenda covers the building of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, regional connectivity, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Participants will also address sustainable development alongside digital and green transformations.

Political leaders and corporate delegates will engage in direct panel discussions and keynote speeches. These conversations draw upon policy proposals provided by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), serving as the channel through which regional enterprises engage in APEC cooperation and deliver policy guidance to leaders of APEC economies.

Business Advisory Council Convenes Prior to Leaders Meeting

Ahead of the CEO Summit, ABAC will hold its fourth meeting of the year in Shenzhen from Nov. 14 to 16. Operating under the annual theme “Openness, Connectivity and Synergy,” the council will review its yearly output and set priorities for the following year.

The council has already convened three meetings earlier in the year across Jakarta, Mexico City, and Bangkok, producing 14 outcome documents. The CEO Summit will synthesize these recommendations alongside onsite discussions to jointly issue a Shenzhen initiative with the regional business community. This initiative aligns with the overarching APEC China 2026 theme: “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together.”

The CEO Summit takes place directly on the sidelines of the broader diplomatic calendar hosted by China.
