Charlotte de Witte Cancels Australian Tour Due to Middle East Conflict

Belgian techno DJ Charlotte de Witte has canceled her upcoming performances in Australia due to escalating conflict and travel disruptions in the Middle East. The cancellations impact her scheduled appearances at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and the Pitch Music & Arts festival in Victoria.

Travel Disruptions Prompt Cancellation

De Witte announced the cancellation on Instagram Stories, stating that “due to the recent escalation of conflict and drone attacks in the Middle East, it is not possible to risk-free reroute travel for myself and my crew.” Billboard and Mixmag both reported on the decision.

The conflict has led to widespread flight cancellations, particularly through major aviation hubs in the Gulf states, including Dubai, which has been closed for three consecutive days. This disruption affects travel routes from Europe and the US to Australia. Mixmag details that thousands of flights have been cancelled since recent military strikes.

Event Details and Rescheduling Plans

De Witte was scheduled to perform an exclusive show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on March 6, followed by a headline set at Pitch Music & Arts festival, running from March 6-10 in Moyston, Victoria. Conzit reports that 27 performers faced travel challenges, with 25 successfully rerouting.

Untitled Group, the event organizer, announced that the Sydney show is postponed, not canceled, and a latest date will be finalized within the next seven days. Billboard notes that ticket holders will be contacted with information regarding refunds or new dates.

De Witte also indicated plans to reschedule the Sydney show and find an alternative date for a Melbourne performance before the end of the year. Mixmag confirms this.

Artist Statement

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to cancel my upcoming shows in Australia this weekend,” De Witte stated. “I am truly sorry for the disappointment and was very much looking forward to being with you.” Billboard published her statement.
