Tutti Quanti Supplemented for Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival
The Paul Nicholls-trained Tutti Quanti has been supplemented for the Unibet Champion Hurdle, a highlight of the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday, March 4, 2026. Sporting Life reports the impressive William Hill Hurdle winner joins a competitive field.
Champion Hurdle Contenders
Tutti Quanti joins current favorite The New Lion, winner of the Turners Novices’ Hurdle last season, and Irish Champion Hurdle heroine Brighterdaysahead in the race. Lossiemouth, second at Leopardstown, is likewise still in contention, with connections deciding whether to run her in the Champion Hurdle or the Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle on Thursday.
Other notable entries include Anzadam and Poniros, both trained by Willie Mullins, and last year’s winner Golden Ace, trained by Jeremy Scott. Alexei (Joe Tizzard) and Workahead (Henry De Bromhead) complete the field at the six-day stage.
Arkle Challenge Trophy Clash
The Singer Arkle Challenge Trophy remains a highly anticipated contest with Kopek Des Bordes and Lulamba confirmed to run. Kopek Des Bordes has become the favorite following impressive racecourse work, despite a limited chase campaign. Lulamba, trained by Nicky Henderson, won the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury last month.
Further contenders for the Arkle include Kappa Jy Pyke and Kargese (both Willie Mullins), Romeo Coolio (Gordon Elliott), July Flower (Henry De Bromhead), Irish Panther (Eddie and Patrick Harty), and Break My Soul.
Tutti Quanti’s Impressive Form
Paul Nicholls had indicated his intention to supplement Tutti Quanti after the horse’s dominant victory in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury. Sky Sports reports that Tutti Quanti beat Wellington Arch by 15 lengths in that race, showcasing a significant improvement in form. The six-year-old finished sixth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last season.
Nicholls believes Tutti Quanti is continuing to physically improve and is well-suited to testing ground conditions. At The Races highlights the horse’s ability to preserve galloping and travel well, contributing to his strong performance.
