Civagen Executives Summoned to Vigo Court Over False Accusation Claim

A Vigo lawyer facing criminal accusations of double-billing corporate fees has turned the tables on his former client, securing the admission of a retaliatory criminal complaint for false reporting. According to court records, the legal battle between the unnamed Vigo attorney and Civagen Biomedical Group SL has evolved from a dispute over unpaid commercial fees into an active penal investigation targeting the company’s representatives.

The conflict originated from a professional services agreement signed in connection with a 2020 unfair competition lawsuit that was ultimately dismissed. Company representatives initially filed a complaint against the lawyer in San Sebastián, accusing him of attempted fraud by allegedly trying to collect twice for the same work. Court documents show the attorney received an initial sum of money during the early phase of the assignment but later demanded an additional payment under a contractual penalty clause triggered when the lawsuit failed.

San Sebastián Dismissal and the Origin of the Fee Dispute

The initial criminal complaint filed by Civagen Biomedical Group SL was officially archived on March 24, 2022, by a court in San Sebastián. Investigators found no evidence of procedural fraud or criminal wrongdoing regarding the fee structure. According to the judicial auto, the contested charge stemmed directly from a penalty clause agreed upon at the start of the professional relationship, designed to compensate the lawyer if the 2020 unfair competition claim failed to prosper.

With the dismissal of the fraud allegations, the penal path closed for the company. However, the resolution cleared the way for the attorney to launch counter-legal actions regarding how the corporate accusations were framed.

Vigo Court Admits False Denunciation Complaint

Following the 2022 dismissal, the Vigo lawyer filed a counter-querella accusing the representatives of Civagen Biomedical Group SL of false denunciation, arguing that the initial corporate complaint deliberately misrepresented the terms of the professional contract and his legal work. In February 2026, the court formally admitted the criminal complaint to processing, opening a completely new chapter in the ongoing litigation.

Civagen Executives Summoned to Vigo Court Over False Accusation Claim

The presiding judge has summoned the representatives of Civagen Biomedical Group SL to appear for declarations on September 17. The upcoming court date shifts the focus from a standard commercial fee dispute to an examination of whether the company’s initial criminal accusations constituted a deliberate false imputation against the attorney.
