Coimbatore’s Culture and Landscapes Documented in Latest Book and Film

A new coffee table book and documentary film, “Coimbatore – A Journey through Culture and Landscapes,” were launched on March 12, 2026, at PSG Medical College in Coimbatore. The project, created by internationally acclaimed documentarian Dr. L. Ramachandran, showcases the region’s cultural heritage and scenic beauty.

Launch Event and Key Attendees

The launch ceremony was attended by District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, I.A.S., who released the publication and documentary. Also present were Additional Collector and Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, I.A.S., Superintendent of Police Dr. Karthikeyan, I.P.S., and Deputy Director ATR Devendra Kumar Meena, I.F.S. Prominent figures from Coimbatore’s business and cultural sectors, including D. Srinivasan and CODISSIA President M. Karthikeyan, also attended the event [1].

Hotelier D. Srinivasan praised Dr. Ramachandran’s work, stating that the documentary and book beautifully capture the pride, identity, and cultural vibrancy of Coimbatore. He described the filmmaker’s work as creating a visual representation of the city with authenticity and dignity.

Eight Months of Exploration and Documentation

Dr. Ramachandran shared that the documentary and coffee table book were the result of nearly eight months of travel, research, and visual documentation throughout the Coimbatore district. He explained that the process involved capturing the district’s landscapes, industries, cultural traditions, and the lives of its people. Dr. Ramachandran emphasized the effort required to obtain authentic visuals, traveling across diverse terrains and interacting with thousands of residents [1].
