Global Rejection of Illegitimate Occupied Territory Voting
Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement declaring the balloting a gross violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence. According to Global Affairs Canada, the votes cannot alter the legal status of these regions under international law.
