The Consulado General de México en Denver commemorated the 216th anniversary of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence with a series of civic events across Colorado and Wyoming, according to official consular announcements.

Official Grito de Independencia Observances in Colorado

According to the Consulado General de México en Denver, official protocol events took place at the Governor’s Mansion in Colorado, where the Grito de Independencia ceremony took place. Pável Meléndez Cruz also led commemorative celebrations at the Denver Flea Market, bringing together local community organizations, Spanish-language media outlets, and educational institutions such as the Community College of Denver, Colorado State University, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The diplomatic mission noted that these celebrations coincided with the start of Hispanic Heritage Month at the University of Colorado Boulder. The university event served as a public space to recognize the history and cultural contributions of Hispanic communities in the region, based on consular statements.

Diplomatic Outreach Across Wyoming

In addition to Colorado events, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon issued a public message acknowledging the 216th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence, according to the Denver consulate. Governor Gordon’s statement highlighted the shared history, cultural ties, and ongoing friendship between Wyoming communities and Mexico. The consulate formally thanked the Wyoming executive for his remarks recognizing the contributions of the Mexican population living within the state.

Bellaire St., Denver, CO 80222—with public service hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.—the Consulado General de México en Denver represents Mexico before the Government of the United States of America, the state governments of Colorado and Wyoming, and local authorities in the eastern counties of Montana, according to official records. The consulate’s stated mission is to foster bilateral cooperation and guarantee the protection of human rights and individual liberties for Mexican nationals residing throughout its designated consular jurisdiction.
