Cork Homes Shine on RTÉ’s Home of the Year

A detached fresh-build property in Cork is among the contenders in the latest episode of Home Of The Year. The demonstrate airs on RTÉ1 on Tuesday at 7pm.

Scandi-Style Cork Home Featured

Kate and Ross live in the Cork property with their three daughters. The home boasts natural materials, neutral colours, and natural light, with a modern and Scandi-inspired interior styling. They have used a palette of white and organic hues throughout the property, and added natural materials like light woods and white walls to create a bright, airy atmosphere and to maximize light.

Episode 2 Lineup

The Cork home will be competing against properties in Kerry and Dublin for a spot in the final.

Kerry Property: A Family Hub

Toni and Fionan’s home in Kerry, built in 2023, is a source of pride for the couple. They dedicated countless hours to creating a central hub for their family and loved ones. The home features an open-plan, free-flowing design with a warm, contemporary aesthetic, incorporating design details inspired by their travels and shared work experiences. They have also established a small homestead, raising chickens for eggs and bees for honey, creating a sustainable environment for their son.

Dublin Renovation: Blending Tradition and Modernity

Esther and Robyn purchased a property in Dublin in 2019 after it had been vacant for some time. They undertook a two-stage renovation process. The first phase involved restoring the home to its core structure, replacing interior walls, plasterwork, windows, and doors, achieving an A2 BER rating. The second phase included the addition of a two-story steel-clad extension. The resulting design seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary elements, creating a comfortable yet opulent space. The couple carefully considered material and design choices to ensure the home remains timeless.

Judging Panel

The judging panel for this series includes Amanda Bone, who is returning for her sixth series, and Siobhan Lam, in her second series. The series was filmed before the death of judge Hugh Wallace in 2025.
