There’ll be huge celebrations in one Cork household this Christmas – and if you own prize bonds, it could be you
A lucky prize bond holder in Cork is now €50,000 richer as of today, having scooped the top prize in the State’s weekly draw. The winning bond was bought in 2021 by somebody here in Cork, and there’ll be plenty of people combing through their documents today to see if they’re the big winner.
the National treasury Management Agency (NTMA) announced the winning number today, sparking a flurry of excitement among bond holders across the country. While the exact location of the winning bond within Cork isn’t being revealed, it’s safe to say someone is in for a very merry Christmas.
Prize bonds are a popular way to save in Ireland, offering the chance to win tax-free prizes ranging from €50 to €50,000 in weekly draws. Unlike conventional savings accounts, prize bonds don’t earn interest, but instead rely on the thrill of the draw.
“it’s fantastic news for a Cork resident just before Christmas,” said a spokesperson for the NTMA. “prize bonds offer a unique way to save, and it’s wonderful to see a meaningful prize won in the Rebel County.”
If you hold prize bonds,it’s worth checking the winning number on the NTMA website (https://www.ntma.ie/) or through your local post office. You can also use the Prize Bond Checker app to scan your bonds and see if you’re a winner.
Don’t delay – the winning bond holder has untill June 19th, 2026, to claim their prize! After that, the money will revert to the State. So, dig out those bonds and see if you’re about to have a very happy new year.
