Curiosis Expands Production Capacity to Meet Growing Demand for Lab Automation Solutions
Curiosis, a leading provider of lab automation solutions, has completed an expansion of its production plant in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, significantly increasing its manufacturing capacity. The expansion, marked by a completion ceremony on March 18, 2026, positions the company to capitalize on the growing demand for its Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) services with global biotech firms.
Increased Production Capacity
The expanded facility now boasts an annual production capacity (CAPA) of approximately 100 billion won. This represents a substantial increase in Curiosis’s ability to meet the needs of its expanding customer base. The facility includes a dedicated lab automation equipment manufacturing line, comprehensive quality control (QC) facilities, and a cutting-edge production technology research center.
Currently, the plant operates 15 manufacturing lines capable of producing 7,500 products and 5 million consumables annually. Curiosis plans to further expand its CAPA to 200 billion won by next year, with a target of 17,500 products and 10 million consumables produced across 32 manufacturing lines.
Strategic Partnerships and ODM Growth
The expansion is a direct response to increasing ODM contracts with several global biotech companies. Curiosis has already secured a contract to supply the Live Cell Imaging System Cellloger ODM model and has introduced the Colony Picker (CPX) ODM model. The company is actively engaged in discussions with other large global biotech companies to explore further collaboration opportunities.
“The completion of this factory is an important step in expanding our production infrastructure to secure supply following the launch of new products and respond to the expansion of ODM cooperation with global biotech companies,” stated Yoon Ho-young, CEO of Curiosis.
CurioSystem and Rapid Response Capabilities
Curiosis differentiates itself through its internal ‘CurioSystem’ manufacturing platform, which enables the company to develop and mass-produce customized equipment within approximately six months. This rapid response capability is crucial in the fast-evolving global lab automation market, where the ability to meet specific customer needs quickly is a significant competitive advantage.
